BENGALURU:
The deadly grip of the coronavirus is being loosened somewhat by the rise in recoveries in the past week. On Monday, Karnataka for the first time saw more recoveries at 4,776 than new cases are 4,752.
With the new cases, the number of infected persons in the state has increased to 1,39,571. Of these, 62,500 have recovered, while 2,594 have died, including 98 on Monday.
Of the total caseload, 74,469 cases are active and are being treated at designated hospitals while 629 of these are in ICUs.
In Bengaluru, the incidence of new cases has dropped slightly, with 1,497 positive cases being detected on Monday, as against 2,000-plus cases in recent days.

With this, the number of infected people in the state capital has increased to 60,998. So far, 23,603 people have been cured and 36,290 cases are active. On Monday, 27 people succumbed, raising the death toll to 1,104.
Over 372 positive cases were detected in Mysuru and 305 in Ballari. Other infections on Monday were: Bagalkot 209, Dharwad 191, Kalaburagi 170, Koppal 157, Shivsmogga 155, Dakshina Kannada 153, Mandya 152, Hassan 131, Udupi 126, Tumkur 122, Raichur 115, Yadagiri 100, Haveri 99, Vijayapura 92, Ramanagara 68, Belagavi 60, Chikkaballapur 58, Chamarajanagar 52, Bidar 50, Chikkamagalur 46, Davanagere 41, Kolar 40, Kodagu 39, Chitradurga 33, Uttara Kannada 31 and Bengaluru Rural 2.
