Bengaluru: Chief Commissioner Maheshwar Rao has directed officials to issue a notice and take removal action over a building under construction without setbacks near Domlur, while setting a November-end deadline to complete the Wind Tunnel underpass.
During an inspection of locations under Bengaluru Central City Corporation, Rao found that a new building was being constructed after demolition of an older structure without leaving setbacks on all four sides, according to the inspection statement. He instructed officials to immediately serve notice on the owner and initiate removal action.
In a separate case involving a commercial building constructed without setbacks nearby, he directed officials to disconnect its electricity supply. The statement records directions for action, rather than confirmation that the removal or disconnection has been completed.
Underpass 80% complete; box pushing pending
The Wind Tunnel underpass work is 80% complete, with box-pushing work still to be carried out. Rao asked officials to speed up the remaining work and finish the project by the end of November.
He also directed officials to develop Domlur junction, carry out proper road repairs and asphalt Sai Baba Temple Road.
Restore roads after sanitary-line work
Rao noted that roads in Domlur had not been restored even after the water board completed sanitary-line work. He instructed the officials concerned to take up repairs and restoration immediately and ensure that rainwater flows freely from the road into drains.
On Domlur main road, he asked officials to examine whether the broad footpath area could accommodate a vending zone or parking arrangement. This was a direction to assess feasibility. He also ordered removal of walls obstructing pedestrians and provision of a clear walking path.
CCTV, medicines and waste room for Kodihalli PHC
At Kodihalli Primary Health Centre, Rao directed health officials to provide a separate room for biomedical waste, install CCTV cameras for security and supply the medicines required by the hospital.
Central City Corporation Commissioner G Jagadish instructed officials to promptly remove branches brought down by rain and wind and keep shoulder drains clean.
Additional Commissioner (Development) Venkatachalapathi, Chief Engineer Hemalatha, executive engineers and other officials were present during the inspection.
