Karnataka Congress Claims State Ranks Third in EV Registrations With 8.81% National Share
Bengaluru: Karnataka Congress on Tuesday claimed that Karnataka had risen to third place nationally in electric-vehicle registrations, accounting for 8.81% of India’s total EV registrations.
In an X post, the party also said Karnataka ranked second after Maharashtra in registrations of electric two-wheelers and four-wheelers.

The accompanying graphic claimed that Karnataka’s EV market grew by 15% during the first five months of 2026–27. The party credited the state’s separate EV policy introduced in 2017 for the growth.
The X post did not attach the registration dataset or identify the period used for the national ranking. Supporting data and a response were sought from the Karnataka Transport Department and were awaited.
