State reports 37 positive cases

BENGALURU:

Green Zone district Davangere reported 22 new cases, including one death, on Monday. That, along with 16 new cases across the state — a 24-hour spike of 37 — takes Karnataka’s tally to 651 cases. Apart from the death from Davanagere, another death from Kalaburagi takes the latter district’s total fatalities to six.

Kalaburagi and Bengaluru have  six deaths each, while Dakshina Kannada has 3, Vijayapura, Davanagere, Chikkaballapur and Tumkuru have 2 each, and Belagavi, Bagalkot, Bidar and Gadag have reported one death each.

“P-587, 56 years, male patient, resident of Kalaburagi, known case of SARI, was admitted on
29-04-2020 with complaints of cough and fever. The chest X-ray showed bilateral patchy pneumonitis. He died at the designated hospital in Kalaburagi,” the report of the Health and Family Welfare department reads.

The report refers to the other death as: “P-651, 48 years, female resident of Davanagere. Got admitted on 01-05-2020, diagnosed as SARI, known case of hypertension, diabetes and hypothyroidism. Expired at the designated hospital in
Davanagere.”

Davangere witnessed a spike in positive cases in the last 24 hours,  with 19  cases traced to a single source — P533, a 35-year-old female and a case of Influenza Like Illness(ILI). The district alone has 31 positive cases.

Four cases were reported from Bidar, two each from Mandya and Kalaburagi, and one each from Bengaluru, Chikkaballapur, Haveri and Vijayapura.

The total number of Covid cases includes 27 deaths and 321 persons who have been discharged. Of the remaining 302 cases, 296 patients are in isolation in designated hospitals and six patients are in the ICU, while there is one non-Covid19 death in the state’s tally.
