Bengaluru: BMTC buses, school buses and goods vehicles travelling between the HAL–Marathahalli side and Vignan Nagar, Kaggadasapura, Malleshpalya and BEML will have to use alternative routes as Basava Nagar Main Road is closed for 20 days from October 10, 2026. Bengaluru Traffic Police have announced restrictions for stormwater-drain bridge construction near Vibhutipura lake.
The Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) is carrying out the work within the jurisdiction of HAL Airport Traffic Police Station. The advisory prohibits vehicle movement on Basava Nagar Main Road during the 20-day period and specifies different restrictions for the two directions.

Which vehicles and roads are affected?
Towards Vignan Nagar and Kaggadasapura: Heavy goods vehicles (HGVs), BMTC buses, school buses and light goods vehicles (LGVs) coming from Marathahalli, HAL, Vibhutipura and Basava Nagar towards Vignan Nagar, Kaggadasapura, Malleshpalya and BEML are temporarily restricted on the affected route.
Towards HAL and Marathahalli: The restriction applies to all types of vehicles travelling from Vignan Nagar, Kaggadasapura, Malleshpalya and BEML towards Vibhutipura, Basava Nagar, HAL and Marathahalli.
Alternative route towards Vignan Nagar, Kaggadasapura and BEML
For heavy goods vehicles, BMTC buses, school buses and light goods vehicles coming from Marathahalli, HAL, Vibhutipura and Basava Nagar, police have prescribed the following diversion:
Old Airport Main Road → right turn near Suranjan Das Road Bridge Junction → Suranjan Das Road → BEML Junction → right turn onto Malleshpalya Main Road → Vignan Nagar / Kaggadasapura.
Vehicles heading towards Malleshpalya and BEML also use this alternative corridor, as indicated in the police advisory.
Return route towards Vibhutipura, Basava Nagar, HAL and Marathahalli
All types of vehicles coming from Vignan Nagar, Kaggadasapura, Malleshpalya and BEML should follow the return diversion:
Malleshpalya Main Road → BEML Junction → left turn onto Suranjan Das Road → Suranjan Das Junction → left turn onto Old Airport Road → Vibhutipura / Basava Nagar / HAL / Marathahalli.
