Karnataka sees huge spike of 16 deaths and 1,267 cases; Bengaluru’s case share 783

BENGALURU:

Karnataka on Sunday reported a new single-day high of 1,267 new coronavirus cases, taking the overall tally in the state to 13,190, the Health Department said. Sixteen deaths took the Covid-19 toll in the state to 207, it further said.

According to the Health Department bulletin, 13,190 people have tested positive so far since the outbreak of the pandemic, which includes 7,507 discharges, 5,472 active cases and 207 deaths.

Of Sunday’s 1,267 new infections, Bengaluru alone has contributed 783.

Of the state’s overall tally of 207 deaths, 88 are from Bengaluru alone.

The day’s infections in other districts: 97 in Dakshina Kannada, 71 in Ballari, 40 in Udupi, 34 in Kalaburagi , 31 in Hassan, 30 in Gadag, 27 in Bengaluru Rural, 18 each in Dharwad and Mysuru, 17 in Bagalkot, 14 in Uttar Kannada, 12 in Haveri, 11 in Kolar, 8 in Belagavi, 7 each in Bidar and Chitradurga, 6 each in Raichur, Mandya and Davangere, 5 in Vijayapura, 4 in Shivamogga, 3 each in Chikkaballapur, Koppal, Chikkamagalur and Kodagu, 2 in Tumkur and 1 in Yadagiri. Ramanagara and Chamarajnagar districts did not report a single positive case.

Of Sunday’s 16 deaths, 4 were in Bengaluru, 3 in Dakshina Kannada, 2 each in Bagalkot and Tumkuru, and so one each in Dharwad, Hassan, Mysuru, Ballari and Kalaburagi.
