Karnataka NDA leaders submit their memorandum to the Governor at Raj Bhavan.
BENGALURU: A Karnataka NDA delegation submitted a memorandum to the Governor, alleging that the Congress government was interfering in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and misusing police machinery against people filing Form-7 objections.
The BJP–JD(S) alliance sought directions to the State government to protect those submitting objections and prevent what it described as false and unwarranted criminal cases against individuals, including BJP workers.

The memorandum, dated October 6, said the revision exercise had reached the notice and hearing stage for claims and objections. It argued that objections to names on electoral rolls through Form-7 should be examined by electoral registration officers through the prescribed inquiry and appeal process.
Citing electoral rules and an Election Commission communication dated January 16, 2026, the alliance contended that multiple Form-7 applications could be filed, with each objection subject to scrutiny by election officials. These legal and procedural claims form part of the NDA’s memorandum.
The delegation alleged that government members and Congress workers were pressuring police to register offences such as cheating, forgery, intimidation and breach of peace against objectors, creating fear and discouraging participation in the revision process.
According to the memorandum, six FIRs had been reported across Bhalki in Bidar, the Market area in Belagavi, Vyalikaval in Bengaluru, Ballari and Narasimharaja in Mysuru. The alliance described the cases as an attempt to interfere with the Election Commission’s functioning.
The NDA also criticised a protest involving the Chief Minister and ministers near the Chief Electoral Office on October 1. It alleged that the protest exerted pressure on election officials and linked it to a circular issued that day proposing action over false electoral declarations under Section 31 of the Representation of the People Act, 1950.
The memorandum called for safeguards for people filing Form-7 objections and directions against registration of allegedly false cases under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita during SIR.
The document names Union ministers H.D. Kumaraswamy and Shobha Karandlaje, Assembly Leader of Opposition R. Ashok, Council Leader of Opposition Chalavadi Narayanaswamy, and JD(S) floor leaders Suresh Babu C.B. and S.L. Bhoje Gowda among its signatories. It also lists election-related communications and FIRs among the annexures.
