Bengaluru: Eligible residents whose names are missing from the Bengaluru final voter roll can still seek inclusion through Form 6, the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) has said, while announcing a special effort to identify people left out of the list.
GBA Special Commissioner (Elections) Shilpa Nag said the final roll published on October 27 contains 59,08,151 electors in the authority’s jurisdiction. She was addressing a media briefing at the GBA headquarters.
Final publication does not close registration
The process of adding eligible voters to the electoral roll continues, Nag said. Those whose names do not appear in the final list may submit Form 6 with the necessary documents to apply for enrolment.
She urged eligible residents to check whether their names appear in the list through the Chief Electoral Officer, Karnataka, website. The GBA statement said people could check their enrolment without having to visit an office.
BLOs to identify eligible voters left out
Booth-level officers will be instructed to compare the earlier roll with the newly published final roll, in line with Election Commission directions. Steps will be taken to conduct a special campaign to identify eligible residents who have not been registered and help add their names, the statement said.
GBA roll records a net rise of 2.08 lakh
Of the 59,08,151 electors, 28,67,256 are men, 30,40,221 are women and 674 are in the other category. The GBA figures cover the Bengaluru North, Bengaluru Central and Bengaluru South additional district election officers’ jurisdictions.
Compared with the draft roll, 2,74,372 names were added, 1,81,053 voters’ details were modified and 65,881 names were removed. This produced a net increase of 2,08,491 electors, Nag said. Modifications to existing details are separate from additions and deletions.
