KSRP Commandant Ajay Hilori (46) has become the first IPS officer in the state to test positive for Covid-19. Two police constables have also been confirmed with the virus.
As per sources, Hillori is being treated at Manipal Hospital on Old Airport Road. The IPS officer was confirmed with Covid late on Tuesday night and was shifted to the private hospital.
A source said the officer was staying in the police quarters at Austin Town. “So far, around 62 Covid-19 positive cases have been detected in KSRP, of which 11 are in Bengaluru city. There are chances that the officer would have been infected by one of the cases (within KSRP),” he added.
Two days ago, a police constable who tested committed suicide en route to a hospital. With a senior IPS officer now testing positive, panic is spreading among the higher ranks in the department.
