BENGALURU:
After a huge spike of positive cases over the past fortnight in Bengaluru and even statewide, the mortality rate has also shot up in the last one week. Bengaluru now has a 1.63% mortality rate while Karnataka has a spike of 1.82%.
This is in sharp contrast to the situation on July 7, when the death rates for the city and state were 1.46% and 1.58 % respectively.
Medical Education Minister Dr K Sudhakar had earlier said the health department was trying hard to bring the mortality rate down to below 1%, but the death graph has instead shot up within a week’s time.
Highest single-day tests
As per Sudhakar, on Tuesday the state undertook the highest single-day number of tests at 22,653. Overall, 8,56,148 tests have been conducted statewide.
