BENGALURU:
Sandalwood actress Ragini Dwivedi, currently in police custody for alleged involvement in drugs consumption at parties, has sought an injunction against news related to her being aired on local Kannada news channels.
Her lawyers Sudarshan Suresh and Pawan Shyam have filed an original suit u/s 26, order 7, rule 1 of the CrPC in the court of the principal city civil and sessions judge.
Ragini’s advocates have sought the injunction against TV9 Karnataka, NEWS9, Suvarna News, Samaya News, Public TV, BTV News, Raj Kannada News, News 18 Kannada, Praja TV, Digvijaya News, TV5, Kasturi TV, and Kasturi 24/7 News and Power TV.
Interestingly, Ragini’s lawyers haven’t included any of the English national news channels or English and Kannada news dailies in their petition.
In response to text and WhatsApp messages sent by TheBengaluruLive to several TV channel heads, some of them did not wish to be quoted but said their legal teams would ask to be impleaded in the matter, which might be heard on Monday.
