Health Minister seeks Ms Sitharaman’s support for an AIIMS in Karnataka

BENGALURU:

Health and Medical Education Minister Dr K Sudhakar called on Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in Bengaluru on Saturday evening and congratulated her on the Union budget’s focus on Health and Well-being as one of the ‘key pillars’. He tweeted later that he had sought her assistance to get an AIIMS for Karnataka and a sub-centre of NIMHANS in Kalyana Karnataka.

Dr Sudhakar also discussed with the Union Finance Minister the state government’s plan to set up 4 state-of-the-art trauma centres to prevent fatalities due to road accidents, and to build a Health City with a cluster of super-speciality hospitals for treatment of cancer, kidney, cardio-vascular and other chronic ailments.

Hailing from the Old Mysuru region, Dr Sudhakar sought the support of the Union government for expansion of irrigation facilities in the rain-fed Chikkaballapur and Kolar districts and bifurcation of the Kolar-Chikkaballapur District Co-operative Milk Producers Union Ltd and DCC Bank.
