Bengaluru: Census is a crucial responsibility in nation-building, and officials and staff must discharge their duties with dedication and accountability, Bengaluru Central City Corporation Commissioner Jagadish G. said on Wednesday.
The Corporation organised a training workshop at Canopy Hall on the second floor of the P.U. Building, M.G. Road, for the Population Enumeration, the second phase of Census 2027, which is being carried out across 63 wards in six Assembly constituencies of the Central City Corporation. The workshop was for charge-level officers, charge officers, technical assistants and census clerks. Jagadish G. inaugurated it by lighting a lamp.
He said the accurate information collected through the census will help the country’s development plans and policy-making for the next ten years. Charge officers should prepare a work plan from the first day and ensure that all officials and staff under them report for duty on the day operations begin. He warned that absence from duty or dereliction of duty on any pretext will not be tolerated.
Officials and staff should take the training fully and clear doubts openly, he said, and work in coordination so that the census is completed without lapses.
Joint Commissioner Hemanth Sharan said attendance of all officials and staff must be ensured on the first day of the operation and precautions taken so that absence does not disrupt the work. A statistics team, logistics support and technical staff have been arranged to help with any doubts, and everyone should use the available facilities and work as a team, he said.
