Chitradurga: BJP leaders attacked the Congress at a padayatra in Chitradurga on Wednesday, 4 November, held as part of a campaign titled “Save Democracy, Eradicate Anarchy”, the party’s media group said.
Former minister B. Sriramulu said the Congress was creating anarchy in the country. Recalling the Emergency imposed by Indira Gandhi in 1975, he said the Constitution had been amended 75 times under Congress rule.
MP and former deputy chief minister Govinda Karajola said the SIR process had been carried out 12 times in the country, 10 of them under Congress governments. He criticised Rahul Gandhi’s objections to the SIR and called him an immature politician.
BJP national general secretary and state in-charge Harish Dwivedi said the Congress insulted constitutional institutions, including the Election Commission, EVMs and the Supreme Court.
BJP state president and MLA B.Y. Vijayendra described the state government led by D.K. Shivakumar as insensitive. He announced BJP protests across districts from the next day against price rises, including increases in milk and bus fares.
The leaders said the BJP would form an NDA government in Karnataka in 2028. Party leaders, MLAs, MLCs and workers attended the padayatra, the group said.
