Karnataka Health Commissioner D Randeep urges all eligible persons to take 3-dose vaccine

BENGALURU:

The state Health Department has made the wearing of masks mandatory again across Karnataka. The decision was taken after considering the spike in Covid-19 cases over the past 10 days.

Department of Health and Family Welfare Commissioner D Randeep, in his order issued on Friday, said that on Thursday, June 9, the state reported 471 cases and a positivity rate of 2.14%. This is the highest since the third wave of Covid-19 hit the state. In view of this, stricter guidelines are being issued, the order said.

Here are the new guidelines:

  1. It is mandatory to wear masks in public areas, and the help of marshals/police personnel can be enlisted to implement this action.
  2. It is the responsibility of the respective agency owner (closed configurations) to ensure that masks are mandatory and that only mask wearers are allowed to enter restaurants, pubs, cafeterias, educational institutions, hostels, offices, factories, etc.
  3. It is mandatory for the public to wear a mask when travelling in their own vehicles and public transport vehicles (bus and train).

‘If sick, stay home’

  1. Testing on preference for those with ILI and SARI symptoms and it is suggested that they stay at home until the test reports are received.
  2. All eligible people to get the Covid-19 vaccine, including a preventive dose.
