State’s deaths cross 500, Bengaluru goes past 200
BENGALURU:
The dreaded coronavirusvirus has set a new record by claiming 57 lives in Karnataka, 29 of them in Bengaluru. With this, the Covid toll in the state has swollen to 544, of which the state capital accounts for 206.
Karnataka also saw a new high of 2,313 fresh cases on Friday, including Bengaluru’s 1,447 cases. The state’s total caseload is now 33,418.
Recovery ‘relief’
Medical Education Minister Dr K Sudhakar said the recovery rate was relatively better in Karnataka, with 1,003 people discharged from hospitals on Friday. ICU cases are currently 472.
As per the bulletin released by the Karnataka Health and Family Welfare Department, the state now has 19,035 active cases, of which Bengaluru has 11,687.

After Bengaluru, Dakshina Kannada has 1,075 active cases (31 deaths), Ballari 771 active (41 deaths), Dharwad 547 active (29 deaths) and Kalaburagi 481 active (34 deaths).
