Bengaluru: Karnataka Congress said the state government had released ₹1,250 crore in emergency drought relief and that ₹2,500 would be transferred directly to farmers’ bank accounts within two days.
In its October 9 announcement, the party also said ₹25 crore had been provided for livestock fodder management and the purchase of fodder kits.
The BJP, meanwhile, demanded ₹50,000 in compensation for drought-hit farmers. In a separate post addressed to D. K. Shivakumar, the party alleged that even the relief already announced had not reached farmers’ accounts.
The two statements place the timing and scale of assistance at the centre of the political dispute: Congress outlined a transfer timeline, while the BJP pressed for a larger payout.
