BBMP to conduct public awareness campaigns
BENGALURU:
An outbreak of cholera has been reported from the south-eastern parts of Bengaluru, including Sarjapur, Koramangala, HSR Layout, Kasavanahalli, Mahadevapura, Bommanahalli and Old Bagalur Layout.
BBMP has inspected houses and collected water samples. The civic body has asked BWSSB to take up immediate repairs if any leak is found in drinking water lines.
BBMP Chief Medical Officer Dr BK Vijendra said, “People should use water that is safe to drink. We have written to BWSSB to check any leakage in drinking water lines and take immediate action to repair them. Cholera is more likely to spread in the summer. BBMP is working on raising awareness among the people.”
According to reports, BBMP has called an emergency meeting of officers and staff to discuss the risk of water-borne diseases and take preventive action.
