Bengaluru: The Karnataka government has opened an emergency information and assistance mechanism for people from the state who may be stranded or missing following flash floods and related disruptions along the Nepal–Tibet border and adjoining areas of the Tibet Autonomous Region.
The government said it was collecting details of Karnataka residents currently stranded in Nepal or Tibet and was maintaining contact with the Union ministries of Home Affairs and External Affairs to coordinate assistance.
Families, friends and acquaintances who suspect that a Karnataka resident is missing or cannot be contacted have been asked to provide the person’s full name, mobile number, permanent address, and the place and time of last contact. The government has also made a special online form available for submitting these details.
The Karnataka State Emergency Operations Centre has opened its 24×7 helpline at 1070 and 080-22253707. Information may also be emailed to seockarnataka@gmail.com.
For Indians requiring emergency help in Nepal, the Indian Embassy has released the contact numbers +977 9851316807, +977 9709107500 and +977 9810326117 for calls and WhatsApp communication.
Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar also spoke through a video call with Mallinath, a Kannadiga reported to have survived the Nepal disaster, and assured him of support, according to information circulated by the Chief Minister’s media team.
The government has asked families to share accurate identifying and last-contact details promptly so that coordination with central agencies and diplomatic authorities can be undertaken without delay.
