Karnataka Forecast: Week-Long Coastal Rain, 40–50 kmph Winds in North Interior Districts
Bengaluru: Coastal Karnataka is forecast to receive light-to-moderate rainfall through the coming week, while sustained winds reaching 40–50 kmph are likely over North Interior Karnataka from August 27 to 29, according to the India Meteorological Department’s district forecast issued at 1 PM on Thursday.
The seven-day forecast covers the period from August 27 to September 3.
Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Uttara Kannada are expected to receive widespread light-to-moderate rain during the first three forecast days. Rain is forecast at many places in the coastal districts during the following three days, before returning to widespread distribution on the seventh day. No district-level heavy-rain warning was shown for Coastal Karnataka in the forecast table.
North Interior Karnataka is likely to experience sustained winds of 40–50 kmph between August 27 and 29. Light-to-moderate rain is forecast in parts of Belagavi, Dharwad and Haveri, while several other northern districts are expected to remain largely dry during the opening days.
South Interior Karnataka is likely to experience sustained winds of 30–40 kmph over the same three-day period.
Bengaluru Urban and Bengaluru Rural are forecast to receive light rain with gusty winds during the first two forecast periods. The forecast indicates mainly dry conditions in both districts thereafter until light-to-moderate rain returns at a few places during the final forecast day.
Light-to-moderate rainfall is also forecast in Chikkamagaluru, Hassan, Kodagu and Shivamogga, accompanied by gusty winds during the first three days.
The forecast is based on the IMD Karnataka district bulletin issued at 1 PM on August 27. Weather conditions may change, and residents should follow subsequent IMD bulletins and local advisories.
