BENGALURU: The Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) is raising revenue through numerous advertisements and publicity stickers. Soon, Namma Metro’s outlook could also changed. Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) plans to earn additional revenue by allowing advertisements on Metro coaches.
The BMRCL has already invited tenders to attract advertisers and commercial establishments. The tender has been called in the first phase as the pilot project on 10 trains on the Green Line and 10 trains on the Purple Line, and those who bid the highest will get the opportunity to install advertisements.
BMRCL officials are considering signing a 10-month advertisement contract. Depending on the revenue Namma Metro earns from the first phase of the contract, the project will be expanded.
BMRCL’s Chief Public Relations Officer Yashawant Chavan said that the income generated from advertisements will be helpful in funding metro operations and maintenance. “The tender has already been invited, and some advertisers have come forward. The tender period will end in a month, and those who bid the highest quote will be able to advertise their company, products, or other information”.
Namma Metro recently hiked the ticket prices for revenue and now it expects additional revenue from the advertisements.
