Bengaluru: Karnataka has made online registration mandatory for Right to Information (RTI) applications submitted by post or in person, bringing these physical applications within the Sakala service framework, the Department of Information and Public Relations said on Monday.
Public authorities must enter the applications on the RTI online portal within two days, according to the department’s announcement.

Citizens can also submit RTI applications through Bengaluru One, Karnataka One and Grama One centres, providing additional channels for filing requests.
The announcement also said a system would be introduced to provide ₹1,500 compensation to applicants for lapses in service or rejection of an application without a valid reason. Its accompanying graphic specifies that the compensation would come from the officer concerned.
The department described the measures as a step towards making the RTI process easier to use and improving transparency in administration.
