Bengaluru: Former Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah has said there is no need for a separate Special Investigation Team in the alleged sting-video case targeting him, expressing confidence in the ongoing police investigation and demanding that it be conducted fairly.
Calling the video entirely false and alleging an attempt to blackmail him, Siddaramaiah said he had filed a complaint himself so that those who created it and the people behind the alleged plot could be identified.

Siddaramaiah says he obtained a civil-court injunction
In his detailed statement, he said he had obtained an injunction from a civil court to prevent the spread of what he described as false news. He said the matter came to his notice on September 26 and maintained that he had done nothing wrong.
Existing police investigation should establish the truth
Siddaramaiah said the ongoing investigation should be carried out properly and should establish whether anyone from his own party or another party was behind the alleged conspiracy.
His statement said the roles of Kripa Alva and Rakesh Shetty, whom he referred to as appearing in the video, were being investigated. He also claimed that Shetty had acknowledged making the video.
Responds to Kumaraswamy’s offer of support
Referring to Kumaraswamy’s reported offer to stand by him, Siddaramaiah said he did not need anyone’s backing and wanted the people of Karnataka to know the truth.
He described the alleged attempt as an effort to damage his reputation and said a fair investigation would bring the truth before the public.
