Bengaluru: Home Minister Priyank Kharge said expanding global markets for Kalaburagi’s GI-tagged togari had helped farmers obtain 30% higher prices, as he responded on Monday to BJP questions about development work in the district.
The Chittapur MLA cited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s reference in Mann Ki Baat to exports of Kalaburagi togari to the Maldives, presenting the exports as part of efforts to build overseas markets for local products.

Kharge also highlighted branding and market development for Kalaburagi khadak rotti, Kalaburagi Pulse, Bhima Pulse and Kamalapur red banana.
He said value-added products included energy bars made from green gram, togari, black gram and horse gram, linking the initiatives to financial empowerment for farmers and workers.
The minister asked BJP critics to listen to Mann Ki Baat. Modi’s comments on Kalaburagi arhar dal exports to the Maldives were reported on Sunday.
