Bengaluru: BESCOM has urged organisers of Vijayadashami celebrations to keep effigies and combustible material away from power lines and transformer installations, warning of electrical risks during effigy burning.
Its safety advisory asks organisers to remain alert to nearby electricity wires and ensure that flames do not spread towards power lines or transformer centres when an effigy is set alight. Straw and other material that can catch fire should not be placed close to electrical infrastructure.

Obtain temporary power connections from BESCOM
For electricity requirements at celebrations, organisers should obtain a temporary connection from BESCOM, the utility said. The advisory combines precautions for placing and burning effigies with the need to arrange electricity supply through the utility.
