Bengaluru: Bengaluru South City Corporation imposed and collected fines totalling ₹85,000 from 10 food court outlets at Nexus Mall in Koramangala after officials found violations of solid-waste management rules and the use of banned single-use plastic.
The mall falls within the BTM Assembly constituency under the corporation’s jurisdiction. During the inspection, officials found that several prominent food court outlets had mixed wet and dry waste instead of segregating it at source. The inspection team also detected the use of prohibited single-use plastic products.
The corporation said penalties were imposed on the outlets found violating solid-waste regulations. Officials instructed the establishments to comply strictly with waste-segregation requirements and the ban on single-use plastic.
The inspection formed part of the corporation’s enforcement measures to improve solid-waste management and curb the use of prohibited plastic products in commercial establishments. Photographs of the inspection and enforcement action were also circulated with the official release.
