Bengaluru: Vehicle owners have been fined a total of ₹30,000 after public photographs helped Bengaluru North City Corporation trace vehicles involved in an alleged illegal transfer of animal waste on Chicken Road in Banaswadi.
The corporation said the complaint concerned waste being loaded from one vehicle into a larger vehicle in Ward 27 of its Sarvagnanagara division. Members of the public brought the incident to its attention on October 7, sharing photographs and videos.
Marshals were sent to the location immediately, according to the corporation, but the vehicles had left before they arrived. Officials subsequently used the registration numbers visible in the public’s photographs to identify the vehicles and their owners.
In its October 12 release, the corporation said the vehicles and animal waste involved were not associated with its jurisdiction. It nevertheless warned the owners over the incident and imposed the ₹30,000 penalty.
The corporation asked residents who notice similar incidents to report them with photographs or videos to assist its cleanliness efforts.
