Bengaluru: D K Shivakumar said there was no alternative to seeking a meeting with the Chief Justice of India after what he described as a lack of response from the Election Commission.
Speaking in Chennai on Monday, October 12, Shivakumar said the Chief Justice should listen to the voice of the country’s people. He also said the Prime Minister should have asked what the problem was when the Election Commission did not respond.
His comments came in response to a question about the INDIA bloc being denied an opportunity to meet the Chief Justice. Shivakumar said every available opportunity would be used to protect the country’s democracy and the voting rights of all its citizens.
He described the right to vote as a right to live and said it was central to people’s lives. Opposition leaders were acting as the voice of the country’s people, he said.
