Barricading was done: BWSSB chief

As per the FIR, the Peenya traffic cops have booked the deceased, Anandappa, as accused No 1 (apparently for negligent driving), while the construction contractor is accused No 2 and the construction engineer is accused No 3.

The accident took place at 11.30 pm on Saturday night on the Hessarghatta Main Road, opposite Krishna Cake Palace.

The victim was coming from 8th Mile, Peenya and was heading towards Bagalgunte. The FIR mentions barricading of the trench. Apparently, the biker hit the barricade and fell into the pit.

Soon after the accident, local residents shifted him to Prakriya Hospital, where he breathed his last at 12.40 am on Sunday morning.

Wife’s complaint

Anandappa’s wife Bharathi TR has alleged that no proper warning signboards were placed near the dug-up portion of the road. Locals said warning signboards with reflectors should be installed at least 50 metres from a trench. “Lack of any reflectors caused the accident,” the locals alleged.
