Bengaluru: Bengaluru Urban district in-charge Secretary Rittik Ranjanam Pandey directed officials to immediately address drinking water problems reported in any part of the district by making alternative arrangements and ensuring speedy resolution.

Pandey issued the directions while chairing a progress review meeting at the Bengaluru Urban Deputy Commissioner’s office auditorium.

He instructed officials to hold taluk-level task force meetings every week and once every 15 days to review the availability and supply of drinking water and identify problems in the respective areas. Officials should remain aware of issues within their jurisdiction and respond immediately to problems faced by residents, he said.

Pandey also directed officials to keep purified drinking water units, or RO plants, in proper condition. The functioning of RO plants should be checked every day and reports submitted by the officials concerned, he said.

Bengaluru Urban Deputy Commissioner Kantaraju P.S. said the state government’s Prajaseva Andolana will be held in all taluks of the district from September 5. The meetings are intended to receive representations and grievances from the public and, wherever permissible under the rules, provide solutions on the spot.

He said preparations have been made for effective implementation of the campaign, which is aimed at hearing public grievances and ensuring their speedy and timely resolution.

A Prajaseva Andolana meeting will be held at 11 am on September 5 at the Government High School premises in Bidarahalli village, Bidarahalli hobli, Bengaluru East taluk, under the chairmanship of the district in-charge minister. Various departments will also set up stalls to provide information about government schemes administered by them.

The principal objective of the campaign is to resolve people’s problems at their doorstep and ensure speedy disposal of public grievance applications, Kantaraju said.

As part of the campaign, taluk-level meetings will be held on the first and third Saturdays of every month under the chairmanship of the district in-charge minister. Hobli-level meetings will be held on the second and fourth Saturdays of every month under the chairmanship of the MLAs of the respective Assembly constituencies.

The meeting also reviewed the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in the district. Kantaraju said objections to the draft electoral roll published on August 24 can be submitted until September 23. Voters as well as representatives of various political parties can submit objections.

He said the Special Intensive Revision process had been completed in the district in accordance with Election Commission directions and the draft electoral roll had already been officially published. A two-day special campaign is also being organised in connection with the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls for 2026.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Dr Jagadish K. Nayak and district-level officials were present at the meeting.
