Bengaluru, September 3: Bengaluru Urban district will begin Prajaseva Andolana campaign meetings across the district from September 5 to hear public grievances and ensure their speedy and timely resolution, with Deputy Commissioner Kantaraju P.S. directing officials to complete all preparations for effective implementation of the initiative.

Kantaraju issued the directions while chairing a preparatory meeting at the Deputy Commissioner’s office auditorium on the Prajaseva Andolana meetings to be organised at the taluk and hobli levels across the district.

He said the campaign is being organised at taluk and hobli levels in all districts across the state in line with the Chief Minister’s vision. Officials should ensure effective implementation of the meetings and respond proactively to representations submitted by the public, he said.

The Deputy Commissioner said government programmes formulated for the public must be implemented successfully and directed all district- and taluk-level officials to immediately become active in preparations for the campaign.

The primary objective of Prajaseva Andolana is to find solutions to people’s problems at their doorstep and ensure speedy disposal of public grievance applications, he said.

As part of the campaign, taluk-level meetings will be held on the first and third Saturdays of every month under the chairmanship of the district in-charge minister. Hobli-level meetings will be conducted on the second and fourth Saturdays of every month under the chairmanship of the MLAs of the respective Assembly constituencies.

Kantaraju directed officials to compulsorily attend the Prajaseva Andolana meetings at the taluk and hobli levels without remaining absent. All officials should remain at their headquarters to ensure their participation, he said.

Officials should not merely receive grievances at the meetings but should also discuss the issues with members of the public, consult them and collect their views, the Deputy Commissioner said. He also directed departments to create extensive awareness about government schemes and programmes and ensure there are no lapses in organising the campaign for the public.

Departments including agriculture, horticulture, sericulture and health should set up stalls at the meeting venues to create public awareness about the programmes being implemented by them, he said.

Members of the public can obtain Prajaseva Andolana application forms from taluk offices, municipal offices and other concerned offices, fill them in and submit them at the taluk- and hobli-level meetings.

Applications received during the Prajaseva Andolana meetings will be reviewed every Wednesday, Kantaraju said.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Dr Jagadish K. Nayak and district-level officials were present at the preparatory meeting.
