Ganesh Idol Immersion at Halasuru Lake: Bengaluru Central Commissioner Orders Barricades, Police Coordination and Waste Control
Bengaluru, September 4: Bengaluru Central City Corporation Commissioner Jagadish G. directed officials to put safety and crowd-management measures in place at Halasuru Lake for Ganesh idol immersion, including barricading at the immersion kalyani, coordination with police and steps to prevent waste from entering the lake.
Inspecting Halasuru Lake ahead of Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations, Jagadish said the lake is an important location for Ganesh idol immersion and reviewed preparations at the immersion kalyani.
He instructed officials to take necessary precautionary measures and install appropriate barricades to ensure that idol immersion is carried out safely and smoothly without inconvenience.
Officials were also directed to coordinate with the police to maintain law and order, prevent overcrowding, regulate vehicular movement and avoid traffic congestion during the immersion process.
Apart from festival-related arrangements, the Commissioner reviewed the condition and ongoing development of the lake. He directed officials to develop a wetland at Halasuru Lake to improve water quality and create a conducive environment for aquatic life.
Jagadish also ordered the removal of debris and cleaning of the stormwater drain adjoining the lake.
To prevent garbage, plastic and other waste from entering Halasuru Lake, officials were instructed to install mesh at points where rainwater flows into the lake.
The Commissioner further directed officials to complete the ongoing lake development works, including the walkers’ pathway, installation of grills and other related works, within the stipulated timeframe and make the facilities available for public use.
Development Additional Commissioner Venkatachalapathy, Chief Engineer Vijay Kumar Haridas, the Executive Engineer, police officials and other concerned officials were present during the inspection.
