Bengaluru: The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) on Friday announced the provisional results of the third and final round of seat allotment for engineering and other CET courses, introducing a Choice-4 exit option for newly allotted candidates for the first time.

Candidates who have received a seat for the first time in the third round can select Choice-4 and exit the counselling process by 5 pm on September 5, KEA Executive Director H. Prasanna said.

The Choice-4 facility, however, will not be available to candidates who were allotted seats in the second round, joined the allotted college and participated in the third round only for upgradation. Such candidates must continue with their college admission and wait for the final third-round results.

5… pic.twitter.com/QUlpg5BlZd

KEA said that once the final results are announced, candidates will be required to take admission in the college allotted to them and cannot decline the seat by citing other reasons.

Candidates who subsequently decide not to take the allotted engineering seat will have to pay the prescribed fee along with a penalty equivalent to five times the fee. KEA warned that such instances would also be treated as blocking of a government-quota seat and could attract legal action.

Officials said seats vacated by candidates opting for Choice-4 will be added back to the available seat pool. KEA will then rerun the third-round allotment based on candidates’ existing options and preferences before announcing the final results.

The third-round allotment covers engineering as well as Architecture, Yoga and Naturopathy, Agricultural Sciences, Veterinary Science, B.Sc. Nursing, B.Pharm, Pharm-D, BPT, BPO and Allied Health Sciences courses.
