Bengaluru Urban Deputy Commissioner says Anekal resort which hosted the rave is on ‘gomala’ land allotted to the resort owner

BENGALURU:

Acting on a tip-off, the Bengaluru Rural cops raided a large rave party near the Karnataka-Tamil Nadu border early on Sunday morning and arrested 35 persons, including the party organisers.

The party was held at a resort near Anekal on the outskirts of Bengaluru city. Speaking to TheBengaluruLive, Bengaluru Rural Superintendent of Police Dr K Vamsi Krisha said all the 35 persons arrested would be presented before a magistrate.

Following the raid, sources in Anekal said the land on which the resort is built is ‘gomala’ land and belongs to the state government. However, Bengaluru Urban Deputy Commissioner J Manjunath clarified to TheBengaluruLive that the administration has verified the documents and the land is indeed ‘gomala’ land, but it has been allotted to the resort owner, Srinivas Chowdappa.

Manjunath said that RTC copy also shows Srinivas’s name on it. The land adjacent to the resort, from where the cops recovered liquor bottles, belongs to the state government and we are re-verifying the facts, he added.

‘Many escaped’

According to sources, many of those at the rave party managed to escape when the police raided the spot, while those arrested are being subjected to medical tests. A person belonging to Himachal Pradesh had created an app to book clients for the party, while Abhilash, a resident of Bengaluru, was the party organizer. Young boys and girls attended the rave after booking on High.App.com. In addition, models and DJs also booked their attendance through an app called ICK Look.

‘Model tipped off cops’

According to sources, the rave started late, at around 8 pm on Saturday, as the DJ from Goa did not turn up. It is learnt that a model going by the name of ‘Jungle Queen’ was supposed to attend the party and reportedly tipped off the cops.

Empty bottles of liquor and clothes were found at the site of the rave. The resort, Green Valley, reportedly did not have any permission to hold such a party. The place abuts the Bannerghatta forest, which is a prohibited area.
