Civic chief Gaurav Gupta exhorts staff to meet property tax target by March-end
BENGALURU:
With barely 6 months left of the current fiscal year, BBMP has collected only 53% of the expected property tax – explained perhaps by the Covid-19 second wave lockdown in Bengaluru. So far, the civic agency has collected Rs 2,141.51 crore in property tax as against its target of Rs 4,000 crore.
However, BBMP Chief Commissioner Gaurav Gupta expressed satisfaction over the property tax collection during a review meeting on Thursday. He directed all AROs to expedite property tax collection so as to reach the target collection of Rs 4,000 crore by the end of the current fiscal.
“In the current financial year, the target is Rs 4.000 crore in property tax and so far, Rs 2,141.51 (53%) has been collected. In this regard, all officers must work hard towards reaching the target,” Gupta said.
Held a meeting on property tax in BBMP limits with officials concerned, today. Have instructed them to issue notice to the defaulters & collect the tax. Zonal Commissioners, Joint Commissioners, Deputy Commissioner & Revenue Department, Revenue Officials were present.
