Karnataka Proposes Stricter Rules to Curb Malpractices in Competitive Examinations
Bengaluru: The Karnataka government has published draft revisions proposing stricter safeguards against corruption and malpractices in competitive examinations and recruitment processes, and has invited objections and suggestions from the public.
Minister Priyank Kharge said the proposed rules seek to make the examination system more effective and transparent while preventing procedural lapses.
The draft covers security standards at examination centres, handling of answer scripts and OMR sheets, transportation of confidential material, printing and storage of question papers, and the responsibilities of coordinating officers involved in conducting examinations.
It also proposes appointing deputy commissioners as chief superintendents for examinations.
Kharge said the government had introduced the Karnataka Public Examination (Measures for Prevention of Corruption and Unfair Means in Recruitment) Act, 2023, through Karnataka Act 45 of 2024, and was now seeking to strengthen the regulatory framework further.
The government said the proposed revisions are intended to protect deserving candidates and ensure that recruitment examinations are conducted transparently. The draft has been published for public objections and suggestions.
