Foundation is supporting Karnataka’s public health system with manpower, testing and equipment
BENGALURU:
The Azim Premji Foundation has been working closely with the Karnataka government and NGOs in containing the Covid-19 pandemic in the state, especially in Bengaluru. Aware that a well-oiled public health system is key to this objective, the Foundation has been collaborating with institutions that are crucial components of the public health system. Key areas of the Foundation’s work include spreading awareness among the public, increasing testing and providing basic infrastructure for the treatment of Covid patients.
Among the concrete measures taken up by the Azim Premji Foundation are:
• The Foundation has supported the 150-bed Charaka Super Speciality Hospital with staff from ‘Doctors For You’.
• The Foundation has been carrying out an increasing number of Covid tests and is committed to providing ICMR-certified test results.
• The Foundation has donated 5 high-throughput liquid-handling systems to BMCRI, NIMHANS, NIBS and NIV. It has also provided 3 RT-PCR machines and 4 RNA extraction machines to BMCRI, Bowring & Lady Curzon Hospital in Bengaluru, and hospitals in Raichur, Koppala and Yadagir.
• 17 TrueNat machines have been provided to primary health care centres in Bengaluru.
