North Indian Gang Threatens Bengaluru Trader Using Gangster’s Name; Four Arrested, Weapons Probe Underway
Bengaluru: In a groundbreaking move, Bengaluru City Police have launched a first-of-its-kind multilingual AI integration in the Namma 112 emergency system—ensuring that language is no longer a barrier in times of crisis.
With this upgrade, citizens—whether locals, migrants, or international visitors—can now call Bengaluru Police and communicate in their own language, and receive immediate assistance. From Indian languages like Bengali, Gujarati, Odia, Manipuri, Kashmiri, Nepali, and Assamese to global languages such as Spanish, French, and Arabic, the system is designed to bridge communication gaps in real time.

The advanced AI, powered under the VANAKI (Voice AI for Nationwide Key Interventions) framework, enables call handlers to instantly understand and translate conversations, ensuring faster response, better clarity, and accurate deployment of emergency services.
This initiative is particularly crucial for non-Kannada speakers living in or visiting Bengaluru, who often face challenges during emergencies due to language barriers. Now, whether you speak French, Spanish, Arabic—or any supported Indian language—help is just a call away.
Developed in collaboration with technology partners, the system reflects a major leap in citizen-centric policing, making emergency services more inclusive, accessible, and efficient.
Currently supporting over 10 languages, the platform will continue to expand its linguistic capabilities in phases.
Bengaluru Police said the initiative reinforces its commitment to building a safer, more responsive city—where every individual, regardless of language, can access emergency support with confidence and ease.
