CISF Intercepts Bengaluru Airport Transit Passenger With Two Suspected Gold Capsules Concealed in Mouth
Bengaluru: Central Industrial Security Force personnel at Kempegowda International Airport intercepted a domestic transit passenger who allegedly concealed two suspected gold capsules inside his mouth, foiling a smuggling attempt during a security check.
The passenger was identified as Mohd. Siraj, an Indian national who arrived in Bengaluru from Dubai on IndiGo flight 6E-1486 during the early hours of August 26.
He was scheduled to continue his journey to Ghaziabad on connecting IndiGo flight 6E-2518.
The alleged concealment was detected during the mandatory pre-embarkation security check at Security Hold Area-02 in Terminal 1.
CISF Sub-Inspector Deepak Kumar Sharma, who was deployed at the frisking point near Automated Tray Retrieval System No. 13, became suspicious when the passenger allegedly failed to respond clearly to routine verbal screening questions.
Suspecting that an item had been concealed inside the passenger’s mouth, the officer alerted the Security Hold Area in-charge and sought a detailed examination.
Security personnel subsequently recovered two yellow-metal capsules, weighing approximately 82 grams in total, from the passenger’s oral cavity.
The nature and value of the recovered metal were not immediately disclosed. Further verification by the investigating authorities is awaited.
Following the recovery, the CISF handed over the passenger and the seized capsules to the Airport Police for further investigation and appropriate legal action.
CISF DIG and Chief Airport Security Officer Manjunath H. appreciated the personnel involved in the interception and emphasised the importance of maintaining stringent aviation-security standards at the airport.
