Bengaluru: In a major anti-corruption crackdown, Lokayukta officials successfully conducted a trap operation in Bengaluru, apprehending a KIDB officer and his driver in connection with a ₹30 lakh bribery demand. The operation was carried out under the supervision of SP Bengaluru City-1, Shri Shiva Prakash Devaraj, IPS.

The case has been registered as Crime No. 18/2026 under Sections 7(a) and 7A of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (as amended in 2018).

The complainant, Ravi Kumar (41), a resident of Attur, Yelahanka, had alleged that a bribe was demanded to pass a favourable order in a pending RRT case at the AC North office in Bengaluru.

According to the investigation, the main accused, Nagaprashanth (KAS), serving as Special AC North and Special Land Acquisition Officer-1 at KIDB, had demanded ₹30 lakh. Acting on his instructions, his outsourced driver Kumar had earlier collected ₹15 lakh.

During the trap operation conducted on Tuesday, the driver was caught red-handed while accepting the remaining ₹15 lakh on behalf of the officer. Both accused were immediately secured by the Lokayukta team.

The operation was led by Trap Laying Officer Shankarappa (PI-23), with assistance from Prashanth (PI-3), Vijaya Krishna (PI), and other staff members. The team operated under the supervision of DSP Thippeswamy, KLA, Bengaluru City-2.

Authorities confirmed that both accused are in custody and further investigation is in progress.
