A parliamentary committee has urged the government to broaden the scope of the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) to include compensation for crop damages caused by stray animals. The committee further advocated for financial aid of Rs 100 per quintal to paddy farmers to deter the burning of crop residues.
