Karnataka Monsoon Assembly Session to Begin on August 13, CM Expects Centre’s Support Amid Drought
Bengaluru, July 26: Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar on Sunday announced that the Monsoon Session of the Karnataka Legislature will commence on August 13, even as he expressed hope that the Centre would extend support to the state in tackling the prevailing drought situation.
Speaking to reporters near the National Military Memorial at the Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium in Bengaluru, Shivakumar said an all-party effort was needed to address the drought and expressed optimism that the Union Government would come to the state’s assistance during the crisis.
Referring to a meeting of Karnataka Members of Parliament scheduled in New Delhi on Monday evening, he said the discussion would focus on drawing the Centre’s attention to the drought situation in the state, pending development projects and other key issues requiring Central support.
Shivakumar said Union ministers representing Karnataka would also participate in the meeting. He urged all stakeholders to work together to address the drought and said he expected the Centre to respond positively to the state’s concerns during this difficult period.
