For the second consecutive day, Karnataka reported over a thousand coronavirus infections on Monday, with the state capital a huge ‘contributor’ to the numbers.
The day saw 1,105 new cases and 19 deaths statewide. Bengaluru alone accounted for 738 cases.
The total number of coronavirus infections in the state now stands at 14,295, and the death toll has reached 226.
Apart from Bengaluru, Bellary, Dakshina Kannada, Bidar and Uttara Kannada districts have active cases in excess of 100.
The discharge rate has come down in the last three days — Bengaluru did not report a single discharge while the state reported only 176 cures from various designated hospitals.
As per the Health Department bulletin, 268 patients are in ICUs, with 178 of such cases in Bengaluru alone.
The ICU patients break-up for other districts is: Dharwad 15, Kalaburagi 12, Bidar 8, Ballari 7, Dakshina Kannada and Hassan 6 each, Gadag, Udupi and Raichuru 4 each, Vijayapura, Chamarajanagar and Tumkuru 3 each, Kolar, Davanagere, Belagavi, Koppal, Mysuru and Haveri 2 each, and Chikkamagalur, Uttara Kannada and Kodagu 1 each.
