Bengaluru, June 10: Bengaluru City Police have arrested two foreign nationals, a Nepali couple employed as domestic workers and security personnel, for allegedly stealing ₹25 lakh cash from their employer’s residence in north Bengaluru. The police have recovered the entire stolen amount and successfully solved the case within days of the complaint being registered.

According to the police, the complaint was lodged at Amruthahalli Police Station on May 28, 2026, by a resident of Arkavathi Layout. The complainant, a contractor by profession, informed police that he had withdrawn ₹25 lakh from a bank to pay wages to his employees.

The cash was reportedly kept inside a locked cupboard in a room of the house. To ensure its safety, the key was hidden beneath clothes kept in another cupboard. The complainant had employed a Nepali couple as domestic help and security personnel at his residence for the past month.

Police said that on May 27, the complainant had gone out for personal work, while only his wife remained at home. When he returned in the evening, he noticed that the domestic workers were missing and the room allotted to them had been left open.

Repeated attempts to contact the couple on their mobile phones failed as both phones had been switched off. Growing suspicious, the complainant checked the cupboard where the cash was stored and discovered that the entire ₹25 lakh was missing.

Based on the complaint, Amruthahalli Police registered a theft case and launched an investigation.

During the investigation, police teams pursued multiple leads and gathered intelligence from various sources. Acting on credible information, the accused couple was traced and apprehended on May 28 from Shirke area in Kengeri, where they had reportedly taken shelter after fleeing from the complainant’s residence.

Police recovered the entire stolen cash amount of ₹25 lakh from their possession.

During interrogation, the accused allegedly confessed to committing the theft. Investigators stated that the couple admitted they stole the money with the intention of leading a luxurious lifestyle.

On May 29, both accused were produced before a court and were remanded to two days of police custody for further questioning. Following additional interrogation, they were again produced before the court on May 30, which remanded them to judicial custody.

The operation was carried out under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner of Police (North-East Division) Mithun Kumar G.K., IPS, and under the supervision of Assistant Commissioner of Police (Sampigehalli Sub-Division) Chandan Kumar.

The investigation team, led by Police Inspector Balaji V. of Amruthahalli Police Station, along with officers and staff of the station, played a key role in tracing the accused, recovering the stolen money and solving the case.

Police officials said the swift recovery of the entire stolen amount prevented significant financial loss to the complainant and highlighted the effectiveness of coordinated investigative efforts by the Bengaluru City Police.
