Bengaluru: DRI officers seized 1,200.40 grams of 24-karat foreign-origin gold worth Rs 1.79 crore from two passengers arriving from Kuala Lumpur at Kempegowda International Airport on October 7, the Finance Ministry said.
According to the ministry, 12 gold biscuits were hidden in two packets attached beneath baggage trolleys. The passengers apparently planned to collect them after unsuspecting travellers moved the trolleys beyond the Customs-controlled area.
