BENGALURU:
Karnataka recorded 18 new coronavirus positive cases on Monday, taking the state’s count to 408. Vijayapura district had the highest number of 11 positive cases.
As per the media bulletin released by the health department, 5 positive cases were reported from Kalaburagi and 1 each from Gadag and Bidar. All these positive cases are primary contacts of already infected cases.
Health officials claim that out of the latest count of 408 positive cases, 20 attended the Tablighi Jamaat congregation in New Delhi. But even more concerning is that 103 positive cases were contacts of these 20 patients. A total of 23,460 samples have been tested across Karnataka so far.Â
In a relief for Bengaluru, the capital city has not been reported any new Covid-19 cases in the last two days. Also, 10 districts — Chamarajanagar, Chikkamagalur, Hassan, Haveri, Kolar, Koppal, Raichur, Ramanagara, Shivamogga and Yadgir —Â continue to be Covid-19 free. Kodagu district has not reported a single case in the last 32 days.
19 containment zones in BBMP
As per Education Minister S Suresh Kumar, 19 containment zones have been identified in BBMP limits — South has 8 zones, East 4, West 3, RR Nagar and Bommanhalli 1 each,and Mahadevpura 2 zones.
