BENGALURU: Bengaluru Central City Corporation has deployed additional staff and auto tippers at locations generating large quantities of Dasara festival waste, while Commissioner Jagadish G. has urged traders and residents to hand over segregated waste to collectors instead of dumping it on roads and footpaths.
The appeal covers festival waste generated in and around KR Market, Gandhi Bazaar and other markets within the corporation’s limits. Flowers, fruits, banana stems, pumpkins, mango leaves and other puja materials account for a substantial part of the seasonal waste, according to the civic body.

Where to hand over Dasara waste
Jagadish asked traders and citizens to use designated waste collection points or hand over segregated material to auto tippers and pourakarmikas during door-to-door collection. He appealed to them to keep roadsides, footpaths and other public spaces free of dumped waste and help prevent recurring garbage black spots.
The corporation warned that indiscriminate dumping can cause foul smells, obstruct traffic, create unhygienic conditions and lead to waterlogging during rain. It also adds to the workload of pourakarmikas.
The additional personnel and vehicles are intended to ensure timely collection and proper disposal at places with a high volume of festival waste. The appeal does not specify collection timings or a list of collection-point addresses.
