H.D. Kumaraswamy Holds JD(S) Meeting on Greater Bengaluru Election Preparations
Bengaluru, May 24: JD(S) State President and Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy on Saturday held a crucial meeting with party leaders regarding preparations for the upcoming Greater Bengaluru elections and directed the organisation to intensify grassroots-level work across all wards.
The meeting was attended by elected representatives from Bengaluru, senior party leaders and office-bearers, where detailed discussions were held on election strategy and strengthening the party organisation ahead of the civic polls.
Addressing the leaders, Kumaraswamy said the Supreme Court has already fixed a deadline for the Karnataka government to conduct the Greater Bengaluru elections and accused the Congress government of attempting to delay the polls.
He alleged that the government tried to deprive Bengaluru citizens of their democratic rights by postponing the elections but was pulled up by the court.
The JD(S) leader instructed party functionaries to focus on booth-level and ward-level strengthening of the organisation and work aggressively in all 369 wards.
“Do not worry about how many seats we will win. Leave that responsibility to me. Your duty is to strengthen the organisation and work intensively in every ward,” Kumaraswamy reportedly told party leaders.
He also directed leaders to take the alleged failures of the Congress government to every household and create awareness among citizens about what he described as “loot in the name of development projects” over the past three years.
Kumaraswamy further instructed the Greater Bengaluru district committee to immediately begin the process of identifying potential candidates for the elections.
He emphasised that coordination and consensus between the city unit, elected representatives and party leaders would be essential to strengthen the party in Bengaluru.
The meeting was attended by Greater Bengaluru Committee President H.M. Ramesh Gowda, Legislative Council members T.A. Sharavana and T.N. Javarayigowda, former MLC K.A. Tippeswamy, presidents of Bengaluru’s five organisational divisions and several senior JD(S) leaders.
