Covid effect: Karnataka to maintain ‘Health Register’ of all citizens
Pilot project to start in Chikkaballapur district: Dr K Sudhakar

The Karnataka government is planning to maintain a health database of all its citizens. The proposed ‘Health Register’ will keep track of the health status of all residents of the state. Medical Education Minister Dr.K.Sudhakar said a pilot project will be implemented in Chikkaballapur district.
Speaking via video conference to officials of Chikkaballapur district, the minister said Covid-19 has provided enough ‘experience’ and there is a need to maintain the health data of everyone in the state. He said the government will undertake a survey using a team of Primary Health Centre officials, revenue officials, education department staff and ASHA karyakartas. They will visit each household and collect health data of all the members of the family. This will also help the government implement various citizen- centric schemes.

Dr Sudhakar urged people to adhere to lockdown guidelines, even though it has been eased in some places. There is a need to adopt some changes in life like wearing masks, maintaining physical distancing and staying indoors. He also instructed officials to take action against liquor shops illegally selling liquor for high prices. The minister also directed the officials to keep a strict vigil in the border areas of the district and to conduct mandatory health checks at border posts.
As district in-charge minister, Dr.Sudhakar also took stock of the water and fodder status in the district and passed instructions to strictly adhere to lockdown guidelines. The Deputy Commissioner, District Panchayat Officer, Superintendent of Police and other officials took part in the video conference.
