BMRCL Gets Railway Board Sanction for Pink Line BEML Trainsets; CMRS Approval Still Pending
Bengaluru: Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has received Railway Board sanction for the new BEML trainsets proposed for operation on the elevated section of Namma Metro’s Pink Line.
BMRCL disclosed the development in a media release dated September 23, describing the sanction as an important prerequisite for commissioning the elevated corridor.
The sanction will form part of the documents submitted to the Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety (CMRS) for inspection and examination, the corporation said.
However, the Railway Board sanction does not by itself permit passenger operations. Opening the elevated section to commuters remains subject to mandatory CMRS inspection and authorisation under the prescribed procedures.

CMRS inspection remains mandatory
The development clears one regulatory requirement connected with the BEML trainsets but does not constitute the final safety clearance for beginning commercial services.
BMRCL did not announce a passenger-service commencement date in this media release. The remaining process includes submission of the required documents, followed by CMRS inspection, examination and authorisation.
